INFORMATION ON CAP-A-PIE MAILLE
The majority of our maille is constructed in 18gauge mild steel, 9mm flat links in the 4-1 design.
By far the most popular is having the items built with solid rings - that's one riveted ring to four solid rings.
Not only does this work out a cost saving, but in terms of an entire shirt, it also reduces the weight. Speaking of which most of our shirts - full hauberks, weigh in at under 9kg. Yes that's not a typo and they are mild steel. So now you can finally concentrate on your fighting techniques without having to keep that Gym club membership up.
As well as giving the weight advantage compared to the old butted variety or even the round ring riveted shirts, the solid rings also give an extra element of strength.
Furthermore, if any modifications are required, for example adding dagged edges, this makes it a more attractive proposition, unless of course you like riveting.
Our maille undergoes very stringent Quality control checks, not only throughout the manufacturing process but also before despatching to the customer. We aim to provide you with maille that will last and that you will be happy to wear, rather than something you put on 5 minutes before battle and take off soon after.
